Week 5 DB 1-2
DB1: Take one of the
chosen Learning Styles inventories. You should have taken one initially at the
start of the course. Please compare your
results then to now. Are there
changes? Please discuss with reference
to what you have learned thus far in the course, ie: brain structure, learning,
contemporary psychological perspectives.
In all of the quizzes that I have taken, this time and
during week 1, I scored highest in the visual aspect. Of course I usually do
need at least a small amount of instruction to go along with the visuals, but
in most instances, I am definitely a more visual learner. As our text states, “when
people learn anything, some part of their brain is physically changed to record
what they’ve learned.” (Ciccarelli & White, 2017)
DB2: Beginning ASAP,
play both the Impossible quiz multiple times, as well as Luminosity. Relate your discoveries to concepts shared in
the text. Did you prefer one game to
another? Do you feel real learning
occurred? Why or why not? Please develop your reasoning, making an
argument for your position.
I preferred the game Luminosity over The Impossible Quiz. I
found it to be more fun, probably because that one had so much more visuals and
the Impossible Quiz had mainly words only. I think some learning occurred
because, in Luminosity there were a lot of thinking ahead and quick thinking
instances, which one can always learn from. Luminosity also had the memory
game, where you see a certain screen for a few seconds then it goes away and
you have to select which one was there to begin with. Overall, I’d say both
games included and had to have critical, fast thinking to succeed which are
great brain exercises to help encourage learning and memory. “This (learning)
is actually a process of memory, for without the ability to remember what
happens, people cannot learn anything.” (Ciccarelli & White, 2017)
